Jessica Donovan English 2301W Heart of Darkness: Conrad on Colonialism Women in colonization passim the novel Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad, Marlow tells of his journey upriver to the outside stations and ultimately to the interior of a truly uncivilised part of the world. His mission as a European, was to set off to a very uncivilized and dark place and friend annex it. One major female characters in the story is Marlow’s Aunt. She is introduced when Marlow is telling the other men on the boat about his journey up river to the inner station.
